The rumor mill for the cheaper iPhone took an interesting turn when a picture of the supposed packaging for the long awaited device showed up in some pictures, showing “iPhone 5C” on the side. Included in that rumor was that iPhone 5C would not stand for cheaper – that just isn’t Apple-like – instead it would stand for “color.” That would make sense, seeing as all the rumors have been pointing towards these colorful plastic backs that have been popping up everywhere, even one of the leaks being a video. As has become a trend, Martin Hajek has put together some renders that show the iPhone 5C alongside what its packaging could look like. I actually love the idea, as you can see he thinks the plastic packaging will match the color of the phone you are getting. Makes sense to me.
I am personally not sold on the idea of there being these plastic iPhones, however the evidence is growing almost by the day for their existence. At this point, while I don’t necessarily expect them, I wouldn’t be surprised in the case that they are indeed a reality. Nonetheless, I think something has to be in the works. This kind of device is something that Apple needs to add to its lineup if it plans on staying relevant in emerging markets where devices from Samsung and other smaller companies are simply overpowering the iPhone in terms of sales number because they are cheaper. It’ll be an interesting second half of the year for Apple, that’s for sure.
What do you think? Would you buy an iPhone 5C? What does it need to convince you? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.
