A new jailbreak tool named UnthreadedJB launched late last night and has an incredibly specific target audience. In essence, if you don’t have a CDMA iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1 you can stop reading now and go back to whatever you were doing before you clicked to view this article. Also, if you don’t have a Linux computer, you can look away too. The tool is so specific in its compatibility requirements that it’s hard to imagine anyone finding use for it.
UnthreadedJB was developed by a group of the same name and is the very first untethered jailbreak solution for iOS 5.1, as noted by iDB, Absinthe was only compatible with 5.1.1 and later. Perhaps more surprising than the fact it’s been released is the news that several users have confirmed that it works.
If you’re looking for any news regarding a new jailbreak for current versions of iOS 6.1, you won’t find any here. Developers aren’t wasting their time creating a tool for an operating system that’s going to be defunct in a couple of months. Instead, they’ve saved some discovered exploits for when iOS 7 finally lands in September/October.
If you want to try out the UntetheredJB tool for your iOS 5.1 running CDMA iPhone 4, and you have a Linux PC, head on over to this link and try it for yourself.
