The Square payment company has been a must-have accessory for small businesses that run point of sales through an iDevice such as an iPad. The card reader that plugs into a headphone jack is one of the most well-known payment systems for iPad, and has also been for sale in Apple Stores for years. However, according to sources, Apple Stores will be adding yet another Square product to their inventory on July 9th.
Sources claim that Apple has agreed to sell the new Square Stand for iPad in its stores beginning this coming Tuesday. The new stand, which was introduced by the company in May, allows cash registers, printers, and barcode scanners all to be connected to one central device. The stand also has a built in card reader in the base. Unfortunately for users of the newest generation tablets that want to purchase a Square Stand, the accessory is only compatible with the iPad 2 and third-generation tablet, because the stand depends on Apple’s old 30-pin connector. The Square Stand will be available on Square’s website on July 8th, or in Apple Stores on July 9th for $299.
If a small business is currently using many different devices and basing all sales off of an iPad, it seems like a no brainer to invest in this nifty accessory. The ability to connect all devices to one accessory and still use the Square reader would be incredibly convenient, and the stand looks pretty cool, too. What do you think about the new Square Stand?
