Skype has been pushing out update after update this half of the year. First it updated with a new video messaging feature, then that feature was opened up to everyone, and now the app is getting another update to again further improve the voice and video messaging service, making it free and unlimited. That’s right, Skype video messaging is now free and unlimited for all to use. Before now, it was only available to premium users after the first 20 were free, and limited to 3 minutes. Here is the complete change log from iTunes:
What’s New in Version 4.9
– Video messaging is now free and unlimited
– Audio and video call stability improvements.
– Share photos more reliably.
– Improved accessibility for video messaging.
– General fixes and improvements.
Both applications, Skype for iPhone and Skype for iPad, are available in the App Store for free, so go get it if you haven’t already, or get the update if you are already a user. It’s free, what do you have to lose? I use Skype all the time, and love the new features. I’m glad to see it opening up this feature to be free and unlimited.
