The iPhone has been one of the most popular smartphones since its launch back in 2007. Since then, Apple has steadily grown its marketshare in the smartphone world, and once again, the numbers from January through April once again show that Apple is not only dominating the smartphone industry in America, but it is actually increasing its lead over Samsung.
In comScore’s new report released today, the numbers show that Apple increased its marketshare 1.4% in the three month period, while closest rival Samsung increased its marketshare by 0.6% over the same timeframe. These numbers put Apple controlling 39.2% of the smartphone market, which is a 17.2% lead over Samsung.
However, when it comes to operating systems, Android still reigns king capturing over 50% of the marketshare at 52% as of this past April. Surprisingly, though, this is actually a drop for the Google-backed operating system, although it is just a 0.3% drop. While it seems as if Apple is still making strides in the operating system market, it is safe to say that the Cupertino company is dominating the smartphone marketshare in the United States.
What do you think of these numbers? Do you think that Apple is doomed (like the investors belive)? Or do you think Apple still makes the best product on the market? Sound off in the comments and let us know what you think.
