Microsoft Office Mobile for iOS lands on the App Store at long last, as a free Office 365 companion

I can’t remember how long it’s been since we first heard rumblings of Microsoft developing iOS compatible versions of its popular productivity suite, Office. Word, Excel and PowerPoint have been the standard programs for documents for such a long time now. One of the biggest reasons people – in general – weren’t sold on the idea of the iPad when it first came out was purely because there was no Office for iPad. Thankfully, that’s now changed.

Office 365 for iOS landed on the App Store today, and any 365 subscribers can download and use it for free. And just in case anyone was unclear from the title, Microsoft makes it plan in the App Store description: “Please note: An Office 365 subscription is required to use this app.” In other words, if you don’t have one, don’t download it and then complain you can’t use it without a subscription.

In terms of design, it fits in very well with Microsoft’s current design language of bright colors, sharp corners and flatness. If you want to download it, you can do so from today. It’s compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad providing you’re running iOS 6.1 or later. App Store Link.

Why in the world do you need an autofocusing camera to use MICROSOFT WORD?! I have an iPad 2 (as well as an office 365 subscription) and am extremely frustrated that I cannot use the apps (that I have already paid for) all because my iPad does not have an autofocusing camera.  Ridiculous!

  • This is a great.
