TiP Daily 5/14/13: iPhone 5S fingerprint scanner, budget iPhone concept, & more! [VID]

1. iPhone 5S fingerprint scanner

A new rumor suggests that Apple’s next iPhone will feature a capacitive home button instead of a physical one, a sapphire crystal display instead of glass, and a fingerprint scanner built right in. These are some interesting rumors, and it’s definitely not the first time we’ve heard them (and none of them are true yet) so definitely take this with a grain of salt. I think it would be great to change the front display to the sapphire crystal because it’s stronger than glass, but I’m not sure how I feel about the other rumored changes.

2. Colorful budget iPhone mockup

I’m still not convinced that Apple is going to release a budget iPhone, but if the company does decide to put out a device like this, I think this colorful concept would make a great device. It looks sleek and recognizably iPhone, but there’s definitely a difference between it and its top of the line older brother.

3. Siri update

So now Siri can give you a sarcastic quote when it can’t do what you want. I suppose this is funny and it adds to the “personality” of the digital assistant, but it seems like a way for Apple to make light of Siri’s inability to process longer requests instead of, you know, upgrading her so she can process longer requests.

Question of the day: What do you think of a capacitive home button? Let me know in the comments section below or on twitter @TiP_Jake.
