JC Penney says sorry for former Apple retail guru Ron Johnson’s mistakes in latest ad “It’s no Secret” [video]

There’s no doubting that when it comes to creating a first class shopping experience for customers, Ron Johnson is among the best. Sadly, his vision and JC Penney’s reputation for being a low-cost store didn’t go hand in hand, and after only a year as CEO, Johnson was fired. The company recently released this TV ad to apologize for the changes he made, and essentially begged customers to come back.

Personally, I’m hoping Johnson comes back to Apple. The retail chief’s role has been available since John Browett was fired as Apple’s SVP in March this year. He was a good fit for Apple, and is mostly responsible for the direction and vision that continues today.

it would be a pleasant surprise if he actually came back to Apple. as for JCP, this latest move with the ad only adds the evidence that their board doesn’t have a clue. what they were doing in the past wasn’t working, so they hired the master. after he couldn’t deliver in 1 year what was clearly a 3-5 year vision, they fire him and go back to what wasn’t working originally. JCP probably won’t be non existent in 5 years, but they will be irrelevant.
