T-Mobile iPhone will be announced at tomorrow’s event according to CNET

CNET is reporting today, March 25th, that T-Mobile will be announcing the T-Mobile iPhone at tomorrow’s “UNcarrier” event. Although it won’t say where it got its information or even mentioned an unnamed source, the publication is convinced it’s happening.

The handset will allegedly feature alongside a couple of other hot LTE capable smartphones:

“Lastly, the iPhone 5, with its LTE capabilities, will be a showcase product for T-Mobile’s 4G LTE network, which is expected to officially launch tomorrow. Other devices such as the BlackBerry Z10, which launches tomorrow, and the recently LTE-upgraded Galaxy Note 2, will also figure prominently in its LTE push.”

I guess we’ll find out whether or not this rumor has any validity by this time tomorrow. The big news for us at TiP is clearly the iPhone. However, the carrier itself is looking at shaking up the industry with or without the iPhone. Instead of offering handsets at $199+ on a 24-month plan, it’s selling them subsidy free. However, the upfront price for the device is still the same. Instead, the remaining cost of your chosen device will be spread over the term of your contract, with the device virtually paid off by month twenty. It’s after this point that you’ll really start saving the money.

If the T-Mobile iPhone is launched tomorrow, will you be buying it?

I have the iPhone 5 on tmobile right now, it is not as good as it appears. You do not get 4G unless you are in a huge city like NYC. Tmobile’s 4G doesn’t support the iPhone yet… But it’s only like 30 a month for the cheapest plan so you will have to decide if that’s worth only having edge for now.

Part of tomorrow’s announcement will be the launch of LTE (Not HSPA+) 4G which will be T-mobile compatible. Also, T-mobile has been refarming its spectrum to make its HSPA+ compatible with the iPhone too. Apple wouldn’t partner with them if it didn’t work.

@jarrod me too because I am baffled as to why the LTE enable switch didn’t come with it in the first place.
