Rumor: T-Mobile To Get IPhone Next Year, Finally

Not a year goes by that we don’t hear this one: T-Mobile will reportedly be selling the iPhone next year. Finally. Seemingly everyone has it in the US, including AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, even some regional carriers.

But not T-Mobile. According to Bloomberg though, next year is the year the nation’s 4th largest wireless carrier could start selling Apple’s coveted mobile device. This could finally become a reality because of an agreement inked between the folks in Cupertino and T-Mobile’s parent company, Deutsche Telekom, according to Sanford C. Bernstein’s Craig Moffett.

A research note by Moffett states it’s “increasingly likely” that T-Mobile will have an agreement to sell iPhones in the US by next year. T-Mobile’s LTE network, which is planned to go online in early 2013, is expected to play a large role in the agreement being made.

T-Mobile has already lost a large amount of ground in this field, losing 510,000 monthly subscribers while AT&T and Verizon cumulatively gained 688,000 subscribers, in the first quarter. Moffett said in his report:

The iPhone availability at T-Mobile USA would likely reduce contract losses at that company, and push Deutsche Telekom U.S. to a net revenue growth position much sooner than the market expects.

This would be coming a little over a year after AT&T’s failed attempt at acquiring the company.

What do you think? Are you a T-Mobile subscriber that can’t wait to get the iPhone? Will this hurt the network to much? Let us know in the comments.
