Survey: Consumers still want the iPad more than any other tablet

I know, I know, it is hard to believe that the iPad is popular. Actually, who am I kidding? Everyone knows the iPad is popular, just look at the market share of tablets, it’s overrun by the iPad. Well, a recent survey decided to ask consumers what tablet they plan to buy (assuming they plan to buy one). The results were, well, overwhelmingly Apple-controlled. Just take a quick glance at the chart above, and it takes no effort to see which group was out ahead of the others. The iPad had nearly 7 times the demand of the next company, which was Amazon with its Kindle Fire lineup of devices at 7%. Something that came as no surprise to me personally was seeing Microsoft at only 1%, as the Surface has proved to be a flop.

Combine all the other tablet companies included in the survey, and the iPad would still hold a 20% lead. That just goes to show that there is real demand for Apple’s device, which can’t be said for the rest of the market. Samsung came in 3rd with 6% thanks to its big push of the Galaxy and Note line of tablets, recently unveiling the Note 8.0 featuring an 8-inch screen to compete with the iPad mini’s 7.9-inch display. Samsung has said it plans to double tablet sales this year, but can looking at the above chart, I don’t necessarily seeing that come to fruition.

What do you think? Are you part of that group above? Are you surprised at these numbers? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.

This just proves that with some clever marketing, people will pay more money for less power.
