PayPal allows payments on iOS through third-party apps with new mobile SDK

PayPalPayPal has today released a new mobile SDK that will allow iOS developers to build the service’s functionality into their apps, which would allow for slicker payments on mobile devices. The SDK – which will first be available on iOS, before stretching to other platforms – may mean that the likes of in-app purchases or subscriptions that run through PayPal will now include a 30 percent fee from Apple, something that really sucks for lovers of the content. However, the new development kit will surely boost the company’s presence in the ever-developing world of mobile payment technology, something that the company itself has acknowledged as stale, saying that this SDK will update systems that “haven’t kept up” with the big hitters in payment innovation.
