You may remember yesterday, Path released its new 3.0 version of its social networking app. Well, that one simple update has helped Path become successful. All in the time frame of just one day.
The founder and CEO of Path, Dave Morin, gave an interview today to TechCrunch and gave us a little more information about Path’s major update. According to Morin, in just 24 hours, Path made more money than it ever has. Yes, that means that Path made more in one day than it had since it was founded. That’s impressive for just updating an app.
Included in Path’s update was a new private messaging system, which has also been wildly successful. Morin notes that in the one day since the launch of the new version of the app, messaging has been adopted well by users. According to the interview, Path users sent over 1 million messages from the app since version 3.0 was launched. For those of you that like numbers, that amounts to almost 42,000 messages per hour. It will be interesting to see if the social network can keep up these numbers, and possibly even improve upon them by adding new users.
