Recently, analysts have been wondering exactly what Apple plans to do with it’s excess pile of cash laying around (they’re up to $137 billion). Yesterday there was a report that Apple may announce a plan for it’s money soon, and sources speaking to Quartz are saying that Apple will be paying back some of its cash to its investors.

As noted yesterday, investors have been wanting Apple to pay back some of its cash to shareholders by way of either a stock buyback program or increasing dividends. It is also thought that by giving back to its investors, Apple may be able to boost stock performance, since the stock has been performing poorly since last September’s record high stock price.
