App Watch: app launched, Springpad and Sunrise updated with new look/features

Part of what makes the iPhone such a great experiences is the thousands of great apps available on the App Store. This week, a couple of our favorites and a new app have been launched that all deserve your attention.


Personal assistant app Springpad has received a major overhaul in its latest update. Version 4.0 brings with it a new, streamlined user interface, along with a host of new features to improve Navigation and interaction with other users.

Version 4.0.0 also includes:

Easier Access to Springs

  • New “My Springs” section quickly shows what you and people you follow have added.
  • Now Springs don’t have to be placed into a notebook until you’re ready.

New Enhanced Search

  • Expanded Search quickly surfaces what you’re looking for when you’re ready to watch, cook, read, go somewhere, shop or listen to anything.
  • Easily tap to view all your notes, checklists, photos, bookmarks and other Springs regardless of what notebook they are in.

Improved My Notebooks Section

  • Now you can view your notebooks and notebooks you follow on one screen.

Additional Improvements and Bug Fixes

  • Numerous stability, speed and performance improvements

Released earlier this month, Sunrise promised to be the first viable replacement for the iPhone’s stock calendar app. Updated today, version 1.1 brings improvements to LinkedIn integration, and also improvements to event creating, along with some bug fixes.

1.1 Improvements:

  • Better LinkedIn integration: Connect your LinkedIn account and get more information about the people you are meeting with directly in the app. Know their previous work history, education and photos. That’s the best way to prepare a meeting
  •  Create recurring events
  •  Add notes to events
  • Skip sending invites
  •  Performances improvements
  •  We’ve fixed bugs
