Amazon has just started running the new Kindle Fire HD commercial, which pits its flagship tablet against Apple’s iPad with Retina. Showing the two displays side-by-side, Amazon (obviously) could show that its 8.9-inch HD display was better than the Retina. So, as usual, it resorted to the “hey ours is cheaper” selling point. It’s also smaller, slower, and has fewer tablet-optimized apps. But I guess they just neglected to show those “features”.
