Just last week, we mentioned that Judge Lucy Koh had grown tired of the patent battles between Apple and Samsung, and she even considered stopping one of the lawsuits between the two tech giants. Well, even though Judge Koh has decided to let the lawsuits proceed for now, she is still saying that she’s tired of the battles, and she wants the lawsuits trimmed to include less patents.
The case that is supposed to begin in March of 2014 is just one of many battles for Samsung, and these battles usually include numerous patent disputes and devices. The decision by Judge Koh has limited the lawsuit to 25 patents and 25 devices in order to focus the lawsuits rather than having to hear about hundreds of disputes at once. Judge Koh said today about the ruling, “You’ve already been litigating this thing for a year; you must know something about what’s your best case.” It will be interesting to see how this lawsuit battle works out, and we hope to gather more information about which patents and devices will be included in the final lawsuit soon.
Do you think this was a good move by Judge Koh to focus the lawsuit? Are you tired of these Apple vs. Samsung lawsuit battles? Would you rather these companies focus on innovation rather than court battles? Let us know in the comments.
