iOS 6.1 Exchange bug fix just around the corner

Exchange Bug

iOS 6.1 hasn’t exactly been the smoothest of OS updates for Apple. Whether it’s because it was killing batteries or mucking up people’s 3G coverage, it’s seen its fair share of hiccups. One of which was an issue that stopped iDevices from connecting with Microsoft’s Exchange server correctly. In fact, the Microsoft issue was so frustrating, that the company was warning administrators not to update.

Thankfully, a bug-squashing fix is on its way. Apple confirmed today that it has “identified a fix and will make it available in an upcoming software update.” In the mean-time, there is a workaround. Apple is instructing affected users not to respond to “an exception to a recurring event” on their iOS gadgets. You can also help the issue by disabling and then switching your Exchange calendar back on again in the settings menu. Just be sure to leave ten seconds between switching the calendar off before switching it back on again.

  1. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars

  2. Select the Exchange account from your Accounts list.

  3. Turn the switch for Calendars to OFF.

  4. Wait ten seconds.

  5. Turn the switch for Calendars back to ON.
