Belkin announces new iPad mini bluetooth keyboard case

Belkin has announced a new bluetooth keyboard case, dubbed “FastFit,” and might I saw, it looks quite nice. It will be fabricated from aluminum, anodized just like the back of the iPad mini. At just 7mm thick, this should be a very portable option if you want a physical keyboard for your mini tablet. The keys will have tactile feedback with a “spring mechanism” under a full QWERTY layout. If you’re interested, check out the press release below. It isn’t available yet (coming out in June), but more information can also be found here: Belkin.

Belkin Introduces FastFit Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard Case for the iPad mini

Belkin’s new keyboard case is the thinnest and lightest of its kind for the iPad mini

(Rushden, UK).  6 February, 2013 Belkin, creator of people-inspired consumer technology products, today introduced the thinnest and lightest Bluetooth wireless keyboard currently available for the iPad mini, the FastFit Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard Case. The case combines a superior typing experience, easy portability and convenient power capabilities to enable iPad mini users to make the most out of their tablets.

At just 7 mm thick, the FastFit keyboard case is thinner than the iPad mini itself. The case also features Belkin’s TruType keys, which are well-spaced for fast and accurate typing.  Each key has a spring mechanism that provides tactile feedback when struck, enabling fast, intuitive, and comfortable typing.

“Though the FastFit Keyboard provides a laptop-like typing experience, it’s a far cry from a bulky and heavy laptop computer,” said Jamie Elgie, senior director of product management at Belkin. Built with anodized aircraft-grade aluminium, the case is ideal for travel or typing on the go. Secure-hold magnets snap the keyboard onto the iPad mini for easy carrying without adding additional weight.

The case’s low-powered Bluetooth 3.0 connection and 200mAh battery ensure comfortable wireless typing with optimal battery life. The FastFit Keyboard can last for 155 hours of active use without needing a charge.

In addition, the FastFit Keyboard’s “auto-wake” feature activates the iPad mini when the case is opened, and turns it to sleep mode when the case is closed.

The FastFit Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard Case for iPad mini (F5L153) has an MSRP of £59.99/€69.99 and will be available in June.
