Today AT&T has announced its plan to expand its LTE network in Tunica, Mississippi, Athens and Mcminn County, and LaFollette and Campbell County. It has also made operational 4G in Tallahassee Florida, Lawrence, Kansas and the Salinas and Monterey region.
According to the U.S mobile giant, its 4G network now covers more than 285 million people, covering 3,000 more cities and towns than Verizon. AT&T’s Wi-Fi network also doubled in 2012 compared to the previous year.
In other news, AT&T has also announced a partnership with OnStar, as subsidiary of General Motors, to help deliver wireless safety, security, diagnostic and entertainment services in many of its production cars including models from Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac. The fruits of that venture should surface in the U.S and Canada next year.
In keeping with its tradition of massive investment in operations, AT&T has invested almost $98 billion since 2008, making it the biggest public investor of capital into the U.S. economy.
