Apple to rebuild iOS to support more processor cores?

A6 Processor

According to what the rumor mill is churning out today, there is a possibility that iOS could see a complete rewrite to support up to 8 core processors before the iPhone 6 release. This coming from Jeffries analyst Peter Misek and the usual “supply chain sources”, the rumor says that Apple could be looking to “re-architect” iOS in order to keep up with the smartphone market that is in a constant fight to have the best specifications. By the time this happens though, Misek said that Samsung will be completely cut off, no longer supplying any chips to Apple. This wouldn’t be surprising, as Apple has been making moves to cut ties with the company ever since the legal battles began. If this holds true, we could see something as soon as June with WWDC talking about iOS 7, or it may be a year after that. Only time will tell.

What do you think? Do iOS devices need more processor cores? Are you fine with the dual-core? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.

i find the iPhone 5 runs buttery smooth and stable compared to the Galaxy Sii i gave up and my friends Galaxy Siii with the quad-core exynos chip. that said, mobile operating systems are evolving. when they evolve, more power is needed. so apple is doing the right thing and must continue and hopefully trounce the competition in this evolution or revolution.
