Apple rakes in 70% of global smartphone profits in Q4 2012

Apple economics

While Apple may be falling behind Samsung when it comes to millions of units sold, it’s certainly not falling behind in terms of profits. The industry’s two biggest manufacturers commanded an impressive 95% of the smartphone market’s profits last quarter, with Apple taking the majority. Cupertino’s collection three of iPhone models combined to take in 70% of smartphone profits globally in the last three months of 2012. Not bad for Apple, but it does beg the question, would it hurt Apple too much if it dropped prices by 10%?
