iTunes links have existed for some time now, but until Sunday, they were all about a mile long and featured a bazillion characters that were unfathomable. Thankfully, Apple’s decided to launch the “AppStore.com” domain giving much quicker and less complicated access to App Store titles.
Although Apple didn’t have its own Super Bowl ad this year, it did sneak its new service in to the Star Trek trailer, which advertised the iOS app for the upcoming movie. AppStore.com/StarTreckApp unsurprisingly takes you straight to the movie’s application.
As an example. If you want to download Angry Birds, all you need to do is type in “AppStore.com/angrybirds” in to your browser and it will take you to the relevant app page in your iTunes app. It’s pretty sweet, and certainly saves you having to type in “https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/angry-birds/id343200656?mt=8”.
