Analyst: ‘iPhone mini’ pricing to be between $250-$300
Brian White, an analyst from Topeka Capital, has recently released his thoughts on the heavily rumored ‘iPhone mini’. White reckons the device will either be named the ‘iPhone mini’ or possibly ‘iPhone Air’, as such to follow its Mac counterpart. He also believes Apple will come out with such a phone as early as June, retailing for around $250-$300:
“A $250-$300 price range would also be competitive with China-based Xiaomi that offers a high-end phone experience at a mid-range price of ~$320 in China,”
“We believe a $250-to-$300 price point will allow Apple to significantly expand its reach in the smartphone market and better address developing markets such as China, while opening up more opportunities in Brazil, Russia, India and elsewhere.”
It’s worth noting, this price is the unsubsidized price point, not the price you would pay on contract. In comparison, the iPhone 5 will cost around $649 unlocked, easily double the projected price for the – as yet – mythical device.
