Amazon Instant video links added to IMDb app with latest update

IMDb app

If you’re a movie lover, it’s pretty much taken for granted that you know what IMDb is. The Internet Movie Database is the most-go place to find out cast and crew from virtually any movie ever (including independent ones you’ve never seen). And, it just got better. The IMDb iOS app has been updated with a couple of new nifty features.

Firstly, there are now links to Amazon Instant video within the app, allowing you to go and watch that movie right there and then providing you have the Amazon Instant Video app installed. Obviously, that only applies to videos available on Amazon Prime. There’s also a new section just for the Oscars. The App Store description details all the updates:

  • Titles available on Amazon Prime feature a link to watch if the Amazon Instant Video app is also installed (iPhone/iPad)

  • Special Oscars® section: list of nominees and photos from the red carpet and ceremony and live winners on iPhone and iPad during the ceremony

  • Recommendations: tap on the “i” in the corner of the poster to see why it’s recommended for you, rate the title if you’ve seen it, or indicate “not interested” (iPad)

  • Improved accessibility for TV episode navigation (iPad)

  • Updates to side navigation (iPad)

  • Bug fixes include episode picker in VoiceOver (iPad)

If you fancy checking it out for yourself, head on over to the App Store and download it. It’s free, universal and works with any iPhone, iPod touch or iPad running iOS 5.0 or later. If you’ve already got the previous version of the app, just check the App Store for updates.
