So, you may have heard of this little game many like to call Temple Run 2. It is the sequel release to the previous Temple Run (didn’t see that coming, did you) and packs many new features over its predecessor. The new game includes a different looking map, more/new power-ups, the ability to use different characters and much more. Well, it was just announced via a press release that Temple Run 2 has taken the title of “fastest growing mobile game,” thanks to over 50 million fans:
Imangi Studios today announced that Temple Run 2 has been downloaded over 50 million times on iOS, Android and Kindle devices. Reaching the milestone in 13 days breaks the previously set record for the fastest growing mobile game*.
In case you are interested in the asterisk on that:
*In April 2012, Angry Birds Space became the fastest growing mobile game with 50 million downloads in 35 days.
So there you have it, with over 50 million downloads in only 13 days, Temple Run 2 has stolen the title from Angry Birds Space. That’s a lot of downloads. I tried out the game for a little bit, but never could get as into it as others. I’ve seen a few hacks making the rounds for the game, and that is the reason for all the consistent top scores. I guess some people just can’t play a game for the fun of it.
What do you think? Have you attributed to the download count? Have yet to try the game? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.
