Siri famously launched on the iPhone 4S just over a year ago. And, as new products arrived on the scene, it gradually made its way across the range of iOS devices. Upon launch, it immediately distinguished itself from the usual voice control options found on hundreds of smartphones by responding to questions with a little more character than expected. Responding with whit and humor to “open the pod bay doors” and the like.
Since the early days it’s added even more features to its toolkit including sports statistics and restaurant bookings. But it’s far from done yet. A new job posting by Apple shows that our favorite fruit company is looking at developing the digital assistant’s character further.
We’re looking for a uniquely creative individual to help us evolve and enrich Siri, our virtual personal assistant. Siri’s known for ‘her’ wit, cultural knowledge, and zeal to explain things in engaging, funny, and practical ways. The ideal candidate is someone who combines a love for language, wordplay, and conversation with demonstrated experience in bringing creative content to life within an intense technical environment.
Whether or not the program meets our tech lovers’ dreams of eventually being a holographic assistant in human form is yet to be seen. But, if you want to check out the listing for yourself, head on over to Apple’s jobs page.
