iFun has today released information from a “reliable source” that Apple is currently preparing the ‘golden master’ build of iOS 6.1 for release to developers. The software is expected to hit Apple’s website either today (Friday) or on Monday, available exclusively to developers.
The first beta for iOS 6.1 was released back in November, with the last beta (beta 4) released in mid-December. When the final, public version of the operating system is finally released, the changes we’re likely to see will be minor. It is set to bring new Siri functionality, with the ability to purchase cinema tickets using the virtual assistant, along with a few security improvements.
All builds of the iOS 6.1 beta so far have been compatible with the following devices: iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, and iPhone 3GS; fourth-, third-, and second-generation iPad; iPad mini; and fifth-and fourth-generation iPod touch.
