Quick! Everyone to the App Store! No time to explain! Just kidding, let me give you a little explanation (if the screenshots above weren’t enough). National Geographic’s World Atlas application is free today. That’s right, free. National Geographic is one of the best informational companies, and is mostly known for its National Geographic Magazine. If you’re interested in the app, here is what just came in the newest update:

- DOWNLOAD WORLD MAP LAYERS for offline use.
- Enhanced map tile delivery to account for issues reported when network connection is limited.
- Addressed all missing currency symbols in the currency calculator.
- Restored missing United Kingdom flag in the flags and facts section.
- Various minor text and visual enhancements.

As iDownloadBlog points out, this is the first time this app has gone free since the first release back in 2010. The app was also recently updated for use on Retina devices, which makes this look stunning on the iPhone 5 and iPad with Retina display. What do you have to lose? Go check it out now: World Atlas.

What do you think? Are you going to try this out? Already have it? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.
