iPad users treated to early edition of Hearst magazines

If you were browsing the App Store today, you may have noticed a new section called “Read them here first.” The name is pretty self-explanatory but just in case you’re unclear, this section of the App Store will feature a collection of publications that are available exclusively on Newsstand before they hit real newsstands and other digital marketplaces.

More specifically, the 20 different magazines featured in this section are all owned by Hearst. The publisher seems to have inked a deal with Apple to offer its super popular magazines (including Esquire, Popular Mechanics, Car and Driver, and more) a day earlier than anywhere else. Obviously this is great news for Apple, as it’s bound to attract customers, but its also pretty cool for us iPad customers who, in the world of instant communication and downloadable everything, have lost any sense of patience.

Will this new section persuade you to open up the Newsstand app any more than you already do, or would you rather stick to your prefered magazine consumption method and just wait a few days? Sound off in the comments section below or let me know on twitter @TiP_Jake.
