Following a huge wave of innovation across its iOS apps, Google appears to have pulled another blinder with its latest update, a revamp of its Flipboard-esque app Google Currents.
The news aggregation app now features the same clean, crisp user-interface that has been so popular in the recent YouTube, Google Maps and Google+ app updates. Version 2.0 brings an edition sidebar for quick access to editions within your chosen categories. It also has fast scan, allowing vertical swipes to scan an edition, and a horizontal swipe to browse editions. It also has breaking stories ranked by Google news, and a saved stories feature to allow for future reference.
Flipboard has been a huge success on iOS, and this new update certainly puts Google on a par with Flipboard, and Google’s other iOS apps. Reports are showing a smooth, snappy user experience, and tremendous ease of use.
Like all great apps, it’s free. So if you already use Currents, be sure to download the update. If you don’t use Currents and you’d like to try it, jump on the download link here and give it a whirl, I highly doubt you’ll be disappointed!
