DataMan Next released: Keep track of your cellular data consumption in weather forecast style

DataMan Next

It seems as cellular network speeds are getting faster, our carriers are less generous with included data allowance in our plans. Finding a decent unlimited data plan isn’t as easy as it used to be, and with that in mind, it’s important to be able to keep track of how much of your carrier’s bandwidth you’re actually using.

Sure, you could try using the built-in usage tracked in the Settings app, or you could look at something a lot more visually attractive. DataMan Next aims to help you keep an eye on your usage, with an elegant and minimalist app. Think WeatherNeue and you’re 90% there. The only difference is that instead of showing you a weather forecast, it shows you a data forecast.

It keeps it very simple by showing you the percentage of your allowance that you’ve used, and how many days you have left. It’s colored accordingly too. Green is safe, amber is getting close, bright red is over. At the bottom you can glimpse exactly how much data you’ve used over Cellular and Wi-Fi individually. It looks pretty neat.

If you’re tempted to try it, it’s for sale at 50% off right now. Available for $0.99 (£0.69) for a limited time, it’s compatible with any iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 6.0 or later.

Should probably include that if you’re on AT&T or Verizon’s Shared Data Plans then this app will not work as advertised, as it only keeps up with the data from the device its installed on, and not you’re entire plans.
