CEO of Qualcomm, Paul Jacobs, was on the television show “Charlie Rose” last night, and the relationship the company shares with Apple was brought up. Around 3:00 mins in, the CEO describes a time he tried to talk Apple into putting a Qualcomm radio in the Newton. This obviously was to no avail, as the Newton did not have a Qualcomm radio in it. The device that would eventually come of the idea was the Qualcomm PDQ, with some argue is the world’s first smartphone with and app focused operating system. He went on to hail Apple for what it has done to the mobile industry, as Qualcomm’s success can be tied to the success Apple has had in reinventing the mobile industry. What do you think? Agree with what he had to say? Wonder where we’d be if Apple said yes to him originally? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.
