As I’m sure you know by now, Apple had quite an impressive performance in the first quarter of 2013. Continuing with the record-breaking trend, Tim Cook reported that Apple sold 2 million Apple TV set-top boxes in Q1 of 2013. To put it in perspective, the company only sold 1.4 million units during the same time last year, and even less – 1.2 million units – last quarter. So, year over year, Apple TV sales improved 60%, making Q1 the best quarter the Apple TV has ever had.

What asked about Apple’s future plans in the television market, Tim Cook said,

“what was a small niche at one time that loved it, is now a larger area of people that love it. I tend to believe that there is a lot that we can contribute in this space…but I don’t want to be more specific.”
