Apple planning to open R&D center in Beijing, says report

A new report coming from China is giving us some interesting news. According to the report, Apple is looking into putting an R&D center in Beijing, and this may have been part of the reason for CEO Tim Cook’s recent visit there. Other information included in the report are saying that Apple will be moving servers for the App Store and iTunes to China, improving download speeds for those in the region. This would be great for those in the region, and would help Apple to reach more customers there as well. From the report:

…Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company plans to set up an R&D center in Beijing, an unnamed insider source told Tencent Tech today. Cook also noted that Apple will move a certain amount of its servers for App Store and iTunes to China…

What do you think? Interested in what an R&D center would be doing there? Is this to possibly help stop leaks? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.
