Verizon has recently announced its statistics for Q4 2012. The carrier activated 9.8M smartphones in the last quarter of last year, with some believing that more than 5.3 million of those could be iPhones, as Verizon announced that there was a ‘higher mix of Apple smartphones’ activated, meaning that the carrier may have sold the most iPhones in its history.
But if you think 5.3M Apple smartphones is a lot to activate, it is estimated that 8 of the 10 million smartphones it sold during the same time period could be iPhones.
However, as iDownloadBlog writes:
“it’s unknown whether “higher mix of Apple smartphones” refers to year-over-year or sequential comparison. If compared to the fourth quarter of 2011, the carrier would have 54.5 percent of iPhone sales.”
Sprint has not yet reported its activations data, but being the third-largest carrier behind AT&T and Verizon, expect its numbers to be equally as impressive.
