Laine Scandalis announces launch of Kickstarter campaign for podi-m
The new iPhone docking solution that is designed to be a “functional piece of art” that perfectly matches the iPhone.
LOS ANGELES, CA – Nov 9 2012 – Product designer Laine Scandalis from World of Simple Design announced the launch of an upcoming Kickstarter campaign for the podi-m today via the internet. The Kickstarter campaign will launch on Monday Nov 12.
Podi-m is the first dock designed to perfectly match the styling of the iPhone- from the aluminum trim of the iPhone 4 and 4s, to the beautiful bevel of the iPhone 5, it’s the first dock that mirrors the beauty of your Apple device.
Constructed of machined aircraft grade aluminum, Podi-m’s simple, elegant design is a solid and sturdy dock that is as pretty to look at as it is functional. The bottom of the Podi-m features a non-skid silicone pad and two internal steel discs for added weight, to ensure it stays put while undocking your phone.
Podi-m’s patent-pending pivoting cable adapter accepts your existing 30-pin or Lightning cable, so it will work with any iPhone, iPod or the new iPad Mini. The height of the connector is adjustable to accommodate all cases- just snap your cable into Podi-m’s base, prop your iPhone in the connector, and enjoy.
Podi-m for iPhone 5 is made from anodized aluminum with a etched aluminum top, in grey or black, just like the back of the iPhone 5. It features a high gloss white or black powder coated body exactly mirroring the design of your phone. Both the top and the bottom of the dock mimics Apple’s etched flat surfaces and precision machined bevels.
Podi-m for iPhone 4 features an anodized aluminum top and a gloss body in white or black, with a polished aluminum trim, perfectly matching the phone.
The Limited Edition Podi-m features a beautiful fine wood body in either Maple/black anodized aluminum or Oak/polished aluminum that is an elegant edition to your home or office.
The attention to detail and build quality requires some high precision machining, setting it apart from other docks on the market.
If the funding goal of $30,000 is achieved, Podi-m will be manufactured in Los Angeles CA and the first 500 backers will receive their Podi-m in time for the holidays.
The retail price of the Podi-m is projected to be $99 USD but the Kickstarter campaign price will be $60.
Like I said, I really hope I can get one of these. It has a beautiful design and works with devices that use either the older 30 pin connectors or the new Lightning ports because you have to supply your own cord. Keep an eye out on this one.
What do you think? Are you going to get one of these? Anything you’d change about it? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.
