iPad 3, 4 and mini make it in to the top 10 highest trending gadgets of 2012 – no iPhone 5?

2012 has been an exciting year in the world of personal electronics gear. We’ve seen some of the best smartphones ever, with the likes of the Galaxy Note II, iPhone 5 and Lumia 920 all strutting their stuff. Not to mention, Windows 8 and the return of Microsoft tablets with the Surface. Google has just launched a page to show us exactly what were the most searched for items online this year. Along with Gangnam Style, One Direction and Hurricane Sandy, there’s a list dedicated to Consumer Electronics (above).

Unsurprisingly, some Apple products made it to the top 10. What did surprise me a lot was the obvious absentee: iPhone 5. The iPad 3 and iPad mini both made it in to the top 3, making a nice Samsung Galaxy SIII sandwich. I know from our own sites figures, the iPhone 5 was massively popular, so I’m a little baffled as to why it’s not on the list. Which product surprises you the most in the top 10?

I’m surprised the iPad Mini beat the Nexus 7.

In case you forgot: iPad 3,4 and mini are also Apple products. iPhone 5 traffic trounced them all. That’s why I’m surprised. Smart Alec.

I’m most surprised to see the PS3 up there. There’s still people who don’t have one and want one? And it doesn’t surprise me the iPhone didn’t make it. Everyone has an iPhone already. No kids parents are gonna pay to get out of a contract to get the new phone, and kids don’t care. They’re okay with what they have. I have a 4S. I don’t want an iPhone 5, I want a Nexus 7.
