Instagram reverts to original Terms Of Service after negative backlash

Dear Instagramers, your photos are safe! If any of you have been following the impending war between Instagram and well, everyone that uses Instagram, then you know that Instagram was planning on changing its Terms of Service to monetize off its users photos. Apparently a lot of people didn’t like that.

After massive backlash against Instagram from users threatening to leave over the new Terms of Service, Instagram has said that it is going to revert back to its original Terms of Service, so all of your photos are still safe. The following was written by Kevin Systrom, the Co-Founder of Instagram,

“Earlier this week, we introduced a set of updates to our privacy policy and terms of service to help our users better understand our service. In the days since, it became clear that we failed to fulfill what I consider one of our most important responsibilities– to communicate our intentions clearly……Because of the feedback we have heard from you, we are reverting this advertising section to the original version”

This is great news for everyone. I know a ton of people and have a lot of friends that were planning on leaving Instagram over this whole debacle, so Instagram made a very wise decision by not going forward and angering every user they have more than they already have. We can now go back to taking photos of our lunch and sunsets.

Are you all as relieved as I am over this news? Were you planning on leaving if they had gone forward with these new Terms? Comment down below and let us now.

I had a few friends/great photographers leave. I was not going to leave the great instagram community however my sharing on there was going to greatly diminish. And I was also going to obnoxiously watermark my pics. I had even began the tedious process of deleting my photo’s. Instagram is really a great little global community that has the potential to really grow in a positive way if the change is done correctly. Most people are on Instagram because of that great vibe it has. I only hope that Mark Zuckerberg and the others understand this. I’m @monkm on IG
