Gmail for iOS gets update: Experiencing early release problems?

Today (Tuesday) popular email client Gmail received an update for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

The latest version, 2.0 comes with a fresh new look that is much cleaner and simpler than previous versions.

As you can see from the image on the right, for the first time Gmail supports up to 5 different accounts, a huge bonus. Alongside this new feature, the app now supports infinite scrolling in the inbox, as opposed to the previous version, which required you to load your inbox screen by screen. It comes with auto-completed search predictions to make it easier to find your way around the app, and you can now respond to Google Calendar invites within the app, rather than having to leave the app and enter your web browser.

This app looks like a fantastic improvement over the previous version, and in the next few days, we should be able to tell you a little bit more about it.

Following the release of the update 2.0, there is a significant amount of internet chatter suggesting that there are some problems downloading the app. Following a brief test, I found that the app wasn’t available through the iOS App Store, but could be found online and in iTunes. This is most likely down to an App Store glitch If there are any further developments we’ll let you know as soon as possible.
