Confirmed: Facebook will “eventually” monetize Instagram

We knew it would all eventually happen. Remember Facebook’s $1 billion investment in a the little social network startup that was Instagram? Well, it is still alive and well, but Facebook has confirmed that it plans on finding a way to monetize Instagram. Those of you not fond of the idea, you had to at the least expect this sort of move. Facebook is a business, you know. It has to meet profit, and now that it is publicly traded, has to please shareholders with high or increasing profit. The form of monetization is unknown currently, however. Advertisements are what first come to mind. As much as I’m not looking forward to this, hopefully it doesn’t happen in an intrusive way.

What do you think? Wondering how this will go down? Will you stop using the service? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.
