When you hear Tim Cook, do you immediately think of him as the most powerful person in US wireless? I personally didn’t, until hearing of a report by FierceWireless making the claim. Tim Cook came in at first out of its top 25 “most powerful people in wireless,” with another interesting figure coming in second, Larry Page of Google. Why Tim first though?
Well, think about the power the iPhone has. Sprint was not doing so well, then when it got the iPhone, skyrocketed. T-Mobile is losing customers, and blaming the iPhone launch for doing so. So if a carrier doesn’t have the iPhone, it is at a serious disadvantage. Android has the marketshare, but purely through saturation. Apple’s device has the power to make or break a carrier.
What do you think? Should Tim Cook have been this high in the list? Who else would’ve taken it? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.
