Sky+ iPad app updated: Features remote control and DVR scheduling

After a glimpse earlier in the year, the Sky+ app for iPad has finally been updated to version 4.0!

Sky iPad app update brings remote control and DVR scheduling

As a British iPad user with Sky+, this is pretty awesome news. The update rolled out 2 days ago, and brought with it several new features. First up, Remote control. Now, the app provides all the functional controls required to operate your Sky+ box as you would with a remote, meaning you can now control your TV from your iPad. As well as being a British iPad user with Sky+, I’m also incredibly lazy, the more remotes the better I say. The update also brings planner management, so that you can see and manage all the recordings you’ve made. You can organise them by genre, and you can add a series link or delete a programme without interrupting your viewing. There’s a newly designed TV guide to make finding your favorite shows, and browsing in general much easier, and there’s also improved search and navigation to make using the app a much more effective and intuitive experience. I can’t wait to try this out over the next couple of days, and you may be hearing from me in the near future. Hopefully, I’ll be able to bring some feedback If you’re contemplating downloading this app. Having said that, it is free, so you really don’t have anything to lose!

You’re a bit late with this. the iPad app has done this for months, it’s the iPhone that received the app update this week and can now do this.

Also the app is now on version 4.2

  • Logically linear

You can’t navigate to radio stations or see what movies are readily available to view without downloading / streaming. Also BSKYB’s referencing / cataloging algarytham in as annoying as poo clumped to the hair of your bum! If a movie is already downloaded and ready to vie, like showcase titles, but you select the same movie from the “action” Categoryit will start downloading rather than playing the available!! Aids. Thought app would make it easy to see what was available without streaming / downloading….. Lets slap ’em up?
