Samsung won’t increase price of A-series processors, says report

If you remember, early this week it was reported that Samsung was raising prices on processor sales to Apple by 20%. The blogosphere erupted over this, causing an unnamed Samsung official to speak with a Korean based newspaper, denying the allegations. This representative also said that the prices are “set at the beginning of the year” and therefore not going to easily be changed.

Apple and Samsung’s relationship is very love/hate. Apple having recently won a huge court case here in the States, while still continuing to purchase mobile chips from them. Tim Cook even said in the most recent earnings call, “we continue to be a customer of Samsung and continue to have a commercial relationship.” If Samsung were to increase prices, it’s speculated that Apple could negotiate a lower price with a new manufacturer to make up for the increased Samsung price.

What do you think? Does Apple deserve to pay higher prices? Would Apple just move to a different supplier? Let us know in the comments, or tweet me @TiP_Kyle.

Apple should make their own chips. They certainly have the financial resources to do it.
