Need a last minute gift for a friend? Buy them an iTunes card through Facebook

Ever needed to buy a friend or family member a last minute gift, but didn’t have time? I know I’ve been in that situation. This would’ve come in handy. You can now purchase digital iTunes credit, or even content, directly through Facebook. I don’t know about you, but this personally seems like a great idea to me. Facebook released this:

Starting today with Facebook Gifts, you can instantly gift your friends iTunes digital gifts and recommend albums, movies, games, apps, and more available on the iTunes Store.

Search for a specific song or album to recommend, or let your friend decide. iTunes digital gifts are available for $10, $15, $25, or $50.

Apple is really beginning to show some social tendencies, as earlier Apple allowed iBooks to be discovered through Flipboard, a popular social media and news consumption app. This also follows the deep integration Twitter and Facebook received with the release of iOS 6. I guess Apple knew Ping was a failure, and decided to leave the social aspect of things to the pros.

What do you think? Will you use this? Is this convenient or lazy? Let us know in the comments.

How is this a good idea? Everyone I’ve ever known to make a purchase on FB has had their account drained. I’ll stick to prepaid cards at a reputable retailer.
