The Verge broke an exclusive report this morning having received some information from its Microsoft contacts. Office for iPad has been on the wish list of many users for a long time, and rumors have been going for just as long. The tech site heard that along with a launch on iOS, Microsoft is planning on launching it across Android and WP devices too, with the rollout starting in February/March next year.
Office for iPad/iPhone will be a free download and will allow users to view documents. If users want to create and edit Word or Powerpoint documents, they’ll need to purchase an Office 365 subscription in-app. But, don’t expect a full-fledged PC-replacement program. It’s going to be basic document editing only apparently. We’ll keep our eyes on this news as it develops. Who’s excited?
