SquareTrade caused a stir on the interwebs when the iPhone 5 was launched. The insurance/warranty company created a video comparing the durability of the iPhone 5 and its Android competitor, the Galaxy SIII. Several people complained at the lack of consistency in the way the phones were tested, so, they created a way to drop each of the latest tablets in exactly the same manner, at the same angle.
The 4-foot corner drop suggest the iPad were stronger, but as soon as all three tablets were dropped face-down, the two iPads were completely smashed, whereas the Nexus 7 cracked in one corner. Check the video out for yourself. Does hardware durability play any role in your decision on which tablet to buy?
