As reported by iDB, the iPad 4 – or fourth generation iPad with Retina display, to give it its full title – has been successfully jailbroken by hacker, Chpwn. It’s pretty quick work from the developer, who’s taken only a weekend to get Cydia loaded and working on the dual-core A6X-equipped tablet. Sadly, the jailbreak won’t be released to the public, as the hacker tries to find other exploits to use, just in case Apple patches it up really quickly. Let’s hope it doesn’t take long to get the public release for this and iPhone 5 out. I tried jailbreaking earlier in the year, and I did enjoy the customization options it gave me, although I wasn’t too keen on the reduction in performance.
We’ll keep an eye on developments as they occur, but, this is very good news for the Jailbreak community.
