Chitika, an advertising firm, has released another report on mobile web traffic from Smartphones and Tablets.
Unsurprisingly, Chitika has found that Apple devices led the pack in September and October, with an incredible 65% of all mobile web traffic in the US & Canada in October. Chitika also recently released a report based only on Smartphones, and while Apple certainly had the largest slice of the pie in that arena as well, they may have been bested by Android as a whole.
As this report includes both smartphones and tablets, the iPad’s huge lead on its competitors has a clear reflection in Apple’s percentage of mobile web traffic. This 65.38% figure could also be attributed to Apple’s recent product launches, however, as it has risen by nearly 6% in the last 2 months. By contrast, Samsung has dropped from 14.28% to 11.86%, and RIM has (by some miracle) actually risen 1%.
With Google always bragging about having “1 million activations per day”, does it speak to the experience of iOS that fewer users can drive so much more web traffic?
