If you’ve bought an iPhone 5 SIM-free and you want to take advantage of EE’s 4G network, you’ll be glad to know that the company has just announced its SIM-only plans. Sadly, it doesn’t look like there are any 30-day options as all the plans are 12-month contracts. Plans start from £21 per month for 500MB of data and go up in increments of £5 per month, up to £36 for a 5GB data allowance. All plans include unlimited minutes and texts within the UK.
An EE spokesperson stated:
“We’re really pleased to announce our superfast 4GEE SIM-only plans have launched today for customers. They are available initially to buy online or over the phone through our customer services team. They will also soon be available in store and we’ll confirm a start date very shortly. The 12 month plans are £15 per month cheaper than our 24 month plans that include handsets – customers just need to pick their data plan.”
Compared to the 24 month handset plans, they are good value for money. But, when you start comparing them to the likes of GiffGaff’s 30-day rolling deals starting at £10 per month, the 4GEE plans do start to lose their shine a little. However, if you want 4G as cheap as you can get it, the SIM only plans are pretty much the only way to go.
