Does the iPhone 5 and iPod touch 5th have a hardware issue?

A glitch has been found on the iPod touch 5th generation and the iPhone 5 having to do with the touch screens, or more specifically, scrolling. On these two devices, if you very quickly scroll from corner to corner diagonally, you will see that the scrolling stops, as the screen seems to not recognize it anymore. This was tested in a video with an iPhone 4S running iOS 6.0 and one running 6.0.1 against an iPhone 5 running iOS 6.0 and one running iOS 6.0.1. Each time, the iPhone 5 displayed the issue. I even tried it myself, and was successful in replicating it. Watch the video below to see for yourself.

Something TheNextWeb pointed out was that the iPhone 5 and iPod touch 5th have one, important common factor: their in-cell touchscreen technology. This could be the reason for this, or it could just be a software bug, seeing as the software would be different for these devices and their displays compared to earlier devices. Watch for an update to see if Apple can find a fix for this.

What do you think? Are you having this issue? Do you think it’s software or hardware related? Let us know in the comments.

@Lol wow For gaming this could be a bad thing, such as Fruit Ninja to name an example.

The more tech that’s poured into something, the better chance of something going wrong. Shame.

Just tried to replicate it on my iPhone 5. No success, the phone operates perfectly.

@KyleFrost  @Lol wow then the test should have been performed on such a game. The guy tested it in mail :/ the issue doesn’t directly affect mail. With all respect to the guy who has made this vid, it proves nothing. Other than that, in Mail, there’s issues when you go nuts on scrolling. If you’re gonna test whether an issue is going to hinder gaming, why the hell would you test it in a mail application..

It just looks like the email is pausing to check if there is any new emails not a glitch.

We are having an issue on my son’s iPod Touch 5. We have to triple click on everything and can’t scroll at all. This is the 2nd time this has happened. Anybody know how to solve this?
